What qualifies me to write a comic book related blog? How about the fact that most of my free time is spent reading comics? I'd like to say that that's a direct result of me being unemployed, but the truth is that was how most of my time was spent when I was employed. I figured that since it’s a big part of my life, I would do something at least semi-productive with it, and give my thoughts on things and any interesting news that I found out there on the interwebs. I also ran the idea by someone amazing, and she said that it was a great idea because of how passionate I am about comics. She offered to help me, and if you’re reading this you can see firsthand the help Denise has put in already. The blog name was picked by her, and she helped me pick the background for this blog. Since this is my first blog, I’m not real sure what exactly I’m going to be including in it aside from a few basic concepts at this point. Things like upcoming comic releases that I’m excited for, upcoming comic book movie news, maybe I’ll throw in some normal movie stuff too. I don’t know. This is a whole new world for me, and hopefully it will lead to something other than another hobby that’s fallen by the wayside.
Since this is a comic book related blog, time to talk about some comics. There are things going on in both major comic universes that I’m excited for. Geoff Johns is doing amazing things over at DC with his Flash: Rebirth and Superman: Secret Origins series, that both easily live up to the standard he set with Green Lantern: Rebirth a few years ago. Add to these great titles the major event of Blackest Night, which is in full swing and nearing its conclusion, that it’s easy to see why he was named Comic Book Writer of the Year for 2009 by Spike TV’s Scream Awards. Marvel’s Siege major event is just starting to take off. I read the first two issues this past weekend. I have to admit, it kind of sucked reading them before I was caught up on what was going on in the Marvel Universe because a lot of things were revealed, but it gave me a little bit of renewed faith in Marvel. Dark Reign (pre-cursor to Siege) was starting to get boring and tiresome, but this new event (at least for now) is engaging and was a hell of a lot of fun to read.

So what kind of things were revealed? hm? Why was Dark Reign getting boring? So on another note, I really enjoyed reading about this wonderful girl you were talking about..hahah ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhy would I tell you what was revealed? That would be a spoiler for sure lol. Read the books :p. Dark Reign has been boring because it's been Norman Osborn running around for the last year in control of everything with his band of villains disquised as heroes. Captain America was dead, with Bucky taking over. It's more than time for the universe to go back to normal, where the good guys are kicking ass and taking names and Norman Osborn is locked up
